Man Killed during Robbery Attempt
Los Angeles: On Sunday, March 14, 2004, at about 4:00 a.m., Van
Nuys Patrol Officers responded to a radio call of " Assault with a Deadly
Weapon, Shots Fired" in the 5880 block of Sepulveda Boulevard. Upon arrival,
Officers were met by a witness, who told them that he and his uncle, David
Earl Cosgrove, a male White, 21 years of age, a resident of the Van Nuys
area were walking home from a bar. Two male Hispanics armed with a handgun
approached them and demanded their money. The witness in fear, ran from the
suspects. As he ran he heard a shot, turned and saw his uncle on the ground
and the suspects running away. At this time, it is unknown if any property
was taken from victim David Cosgrove.
Los Angeles Fire Department Rescue Ambulance transported David Cosgrove
to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. The motive for the
shooting at this time appears to be robbery.
