What:
Fund Raiser For Child Cancer Research
When:
Friday, March 17, 2006
8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Where:
LAFD Fire Station 89
7063 Laurel Canyon Blvd
North Hollywood, CA 91605
Who:
Los Angeles City Fire Department and Police Personnel
Why:
On Saint Patrick's Day, Los Angeles City Fire and Police Personnel will be participating in their third annual combined Saint Baldrick’s Event. Participants, or “shavees” as they are known, will be collecting pledges from friends and family in exchange for shaving their heads. The bald heads signify solidarity with the child victims of cancer, who often lose their hair while undergoing treatment. All money raised goes to the Saint Baldrick’s Foundation, and is distributed to doctors and other researchers on the front lines of the war on childhood cancer.
Participants and helpers are needed to staff this event. If you are able to help, please contact Valley Communications, Sergeant Greg Doyle at 818-778-4752 or LAFD Captain Waldie Brangham at 818-756-8689. If you would like to be a shavee, you can sign up at www.stbaldricks.org.
