Man Shot as He Leaves Work

Los Angeles: West Valley detectives are asking for the public’s help in finding any witnesses who may have seen the shooting of a Van Nuys resident on Saturday night.

On March 18, 2006, at about 11:09 p.m., Abel Muñoz Jr., a 26-year-old Hispanic man had just finished his shift as a courtesy clerk at the Pavilion’s Market located in the 6500 block of Platt Ave in West Hills. Muñoz got in his car, which was parked in the front parking lot and began driving out of the lot when two men began shooting at him. Muñoz was hit on the neck and chest and lost control of the car and crashed into a light post. The two men were seen running away from the parking lot.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and was pronounced dead on March 19, 2006, at 12:37 a.m.

The suspects are described only as two men.

The motive for this crime is believed to be gang related.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Valley Homicide Detectives at 818-374-7721. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (529-3855).
