Lone Driver Wanted for Drive-by Shooting

Los Angeles: Wilshire Homicide Detectives are investigating the murder of Juan Martinez, an 18-year-old Hispanic man of Los Angeles.

On Monday, March 27, 2006, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Martinez and a friend were standing on the northeast corner of Washington Boulevard and Vineyard Avenue, when a white compact vehicle drove southbound on Vineyard. The lone occupant of the car shot Martinez and his friend multiple times from the vehicle.

The suspect, described only as a male Hispanic with curly hair and a dark baseball cap, drove away from the scene westbound on Washington.

Both victims were taken by paramedics to a local hospital, where Mr. Martinez later died of his injuries.

The motive for the crime is unknown.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Wilshire Homicide Detective Telis or Parshall at 213-473-0551. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free Detective Information Desk at 1-877-LAWFULL (877-529-3855).
