Harbor Area Pedestrian Sting

What:
Easter Bunny Pedestrian Enforcement Operation

When:
Wednesday, March 19, 2008
7:00 AM to Noon

Where:
Gaffey Street Between 1st Street and 17th Street

Who:
LAPD Officer dressed in an Easter Bunny costume and used as a decoy by crossing marked crosswalks

Why:
Pedestrian traffic accidents are one of the major leading causes in traffic related deaths in the City of Los Angeles. This sting will educate the public on the importance of stopping for pedestrians in marked crosswalks. Officers will issue citations for violators and reward those who stop for pedestrians with gift cards.
