Sobriety & Drivers License Checkpoint in LAPD’s Southeast Division NA10054kr

Where:     
Manchester Avenue between Hoover Street and Figueroa Street
Bordering LAPD’s Southeast and 77th Divisions

Who:        
LAPD’s Crime Task Force/Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Enforcement Detail, South Traffic Division

Why:       
Despite the tireless efforts of thousands of advocates and law enforcement officers alike, drunk driving continues to be one of America’s deadliest crimes.  This operation will be conducted in an effort to reduce the incident of injuries, death, and property damage associated with the intoxicated driver in this area.  Southeast Division has experienced a 125 percent increase in DUI related traffic collisions, year to date, and 66 hit and run traffic collisions in the first two months of 2010.  

The checkpoint will serve as a reminder to the community of Southeast Division to use designated drivers and not drink and drive.  Our message is simple: if we catch you driving drunk, you will be arrested.
