Fatal Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Traffic Collision

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Tuesday, May 11, 1999

On Monday, May 10, 1999, at 8:30 A.M., a fatal vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic collision occurred at Haskell Avenue and Tupper Street, in the parking lot of Valley Presbyterian School, located in the Devonshire Area.

The vehicle involved was a 1988 International delivery van for Roadway Package Systems, driven by Gilberto Valencia, 51 years of age and a resident of Van Nuys. The pedestrian involved was Jean Kindig Hufford, 78 years of age and resident of Sherman Oaks. Mrs. Hufford was pronounced dead at the scene by LAFD paramedic personnel. The victim's family members were notified at the scene of the accident.

The investigation is being handled by Investigating Officer White, Valley Traffic Division Detectives at 818-756-8391.
