Rededication of Monument to Devonshire Area's Fallen Officers

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Wednesday, May 12, 1999

REDEDICATION OF MONUMENT TO FALLEN OFFICERS
ASSIGNED TO DEVONSHIRE AREA

Thursday, May 13, 1999

8:30 A.M.

Devonshire Police Station
10250 Etiwanda Avenue, Northridge, CA 91325

The Los Angeles Police Department's Devonshire Area and the Devonshire Police Activity League Supporters (PALS) will host a Memorial Rededication of the Monument to Fallen Officers of the Devonshire Area. Devonshire PALS will present a bronze plaque entitled "A Part of America Died" to Devonshire Station. The original black granite monument stands in front of the lobby at Devonshire Station and was first dedicated in May 1995. The monument is inscribed with the names of the Devonshire Police Officers who paid the ultimate price as they protected our community.

Tremendous risks are faced by Police Officers every day. In today's environment, policing has become more complex and dangerous and yet these exceptional heroes are willing to take on the responsibility of policing above and beyond the call of duty. Through this rededication, Devonshire PALS and the Devonshire community seek to acknowledge our debt to those officers and their families. Chief Bernard C. Parks will be making the dedication and families of the fallen officers will be present. Captain Joseph Curreri, Commanding Officer of Devonshire Area, will direct the program.

For further information, please contact Devonshire Area Office, at 818-756-8281.
