City Councilman John Ferraro and the Los Angeles Police Department will conduct a press conference on May 14, 1999 at 2:30 p.m. in front of 4902 Placidia Avenue, North Hollywood, to announce a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible for the murder of Hillary Davis. Mr. Davis was shot and killed in a home invasion type robbery on Thursday, May 6, 1999 at approximately 8:00 p.m. Mr. Davis was 52 years of age and made his living as a local hip-hop, rhythm and blues music producer who operated a sound studio in the rear of his residence.
On the evening of the murder, Mr. Davis had just finished an audition with a 25-year-old female singer when the below described suspects forced entry into his residence and proceeded to assault and rob both victims. Mr. Davis was shot and killed for no apparent reason and the suspects removed several items of music recording equipment, jewelry, and cash. The suspects fled the scene in two vehicles; a late model Lexus, 4-door sedan, white in color, with unknown plates, and victim 2's 1965 Ford Mustang, light green in color. This vehicle was recovered on Sunday, May 9, in the City of Lynwood. It was stripped and left in an industrial area.
The suspects are described as:
Suspect #1: Male, Black, 5-8/5-9, 150 pounds, 22/23 years of age, short black curly hair, medium brown skin with acne rash, wearing a loose light green suit, beige silk shirt, and brown work boots, untied. Suspect #2: Male, Black, black hair braided in corn rows, 5-8, 130/150 pounds, 20 years of age, with a deep, raspy voice and wearing baggy gray and black clothing. Suspect #3: Female, Black, 5-6, 110 pounds, late teens, wearing a black skirt and blouse, 2" heels, silver necklace, hair was pulled back into a bun.
