Suspect Kills Victim After Argument

Wednesday, May 19, 1999

Rampart Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a male Black approximately 43 years of age.
On Tuesday, May 18, 1999 at approximately 2:20 a.m., witnesses in the 300 block of South Mariposa Avenue heard voices arguing in the street followed by a male voice asking for help. The witnesses then looked out their windows and observed the suspect standing over the victim firing a handgun.

After the shooting, the suspect entered a red pick-up truck with a white camper shell and fled northbound on Mariposa Avenue.

The victim sustained two gunshot wounds to the body and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending the notification of the next of kin.

The suspect is described as a male, Hispanic, 5'11" tall, 20 to 25 years of age. No clothing description. The motive for this crime is believed to be narcotic related.
