Monday, May 24, 1999

On May 3, 1999, at approximately 1:10 a.m., a hot-prowl burglary and sexual assault occurred in the 2100 block of Kelton Ave in West Los Angeles. The suspect gained entry through an unlocked window and ransacked the location, stealing money. The suspect then confronted the lone female occupant, displayed a knife, and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the location.

On May 20, 1999, at approximately 10:00 p.m., a hot-prowl burglary, residential robbery, and sexual assault occurred in the 2900 block of Veteran Avenue in the Westgate neighborhood of Los Angeles. In this case, the suspect gained entry through an unlocked door and confronted the lone female victim while displaying a stabbing-type instrument. The suspect forced the victim to disrobe and robbed her of money. He then sexually assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene.

In both cases, the suspect wore head and face coverings that limited the victims' ability to provide descriptive information (therefore, no composite drawing is expected to be available).

The suspect has been described as a male white or light-skinned black, 6'0" - 6'2", 170-180 pounds, brown hair, brown eyes, 20-30 years old. The suspect was wearing dark clothing during the commission of both crimes.

The Rape Special Section of Robbery-Homicide Division is handling this investigation. Anyone with information regarding this crime should call the investigating detectives at 213-485-2921.
