"Three Month Old Baby is Brutally Attacked by Her Father"

Sun Valley - On May 21, 2000, at 1:00 AM, LAPD Detectives assigned to Juvenile Division, Abused Child Unit, were notified that a three-month-old baby girl was hospitalized at Pacifica of the Valley Hospital, in Sun Valley. The victim was suffering from multiple head injuries, including a fractured skull, and had been sexually penetrated with an unknown object. The medical staff who treated the baby informed detectives that the victim was not expected to survive her injuries. The victim had been in the care of her biological father, 25-year-old Ramon Garcia. The family resided in the 9100 block of Telfair Avenue, Sun Valley.

Based on information obtained during the course of the investigation, the father was arrested was arrested for Penal Code Section 664/187 (Attempted Murder) and was booked at Van Nuys Jail. He remains in custody on a one million dollar bail.

The victim remains hospitalized on life support system.

Abused Child Unit Detective Beardsley is conducting the investigation.
