"Senior Citizen Stabbed to Death Outside Filipino Cultural Center"

Los Angeles - On Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Victim Tomas Agustin Domingo, male Filipino, 70 years of age, was stabbed to death outside the Filipino Cultural Center, located on the 1700 Block of West Temple Street. The victim was involved in a discussion with a member of the culture center when suspect Angel De La Cruz, a male Filipino, 74 years of age, intervened and became involved in an argument with the victim. The victim and the suspect were separated, and the suspect entered the cultural center.

A few minutes later, the victim entered his vehicle and began driving out of the parking lot. The suspect exited the cultural center and confronted the victim. The suspect stabbed the victim through the open car window. The victim exited his vehicle and used a locking device to fend off the suspect. The victim lost his balance and fell to the pavement where the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

The suspect was taken into custody inside the office of the cultural center without incident.

Rampart Homicide Detectives Jerry Greenfield and Humberto Jaime are conducting the investigation.
