Murder Suspects Surrendered to Police
Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department,
Wilshire Operations Support Division Homicide Detectives are conducting an
investigation into the shooting death of Jin Kim, 44 year old male Korean,
which occurred on May 3, 2002, at approximately 2:00 a.m. near 6th
Street and Normandie Avenue.
There was a physical confrontation between individuals
unknown to the victim in the parking lot just outside his business. During
the confrontation, several gunshots were fired and the victim, who was in
the background of the intended victims, was struck by gunfire.
As a result of the investigation, two individuals identified
as James Ki Ghang and Ronald Myong Hwang were identified as suspects in the
murder of Mr. Kim. This information was released to the media during a press
conference, which was then broadcast to the public. As a result of the
efforts of the media, James Ghang surrendered himself to police custody on
May 15, 2002 at 2:15 p.m. and Ronald Hwang turned himself in on May 16, 2002
at 3:15 p.m.
