Argument Erupts in Gunfire


Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department, 77th Area Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a 25-year old male Black while he was sitting in his car. The shooting took place on Thursday, May 16, 2002, approximately 9:50 p.m., on the 1300 block of West 84th Street in Los Angeles.

Arthur Lee Lewis was inside his vehicle when an unknown suspect approached the driver's side on foot. The victim and the suspect exchanged words. The suspect then produced a handgun and fired several times, striking the victim multiple times. The victim was transported to Martin Luther King Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
