Two Children Abducted by Mother

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department is requesting that the media provide the public with the following information to assist law enforcement efforts in locating two children who had been abducted by their natural mother.

On Monday, May 20, 2002, at approximately 6:30 a.m., the father came home from work and found his wife and two children missing. He called all possible locations in attempts to find his wife and children without any success. He finally contacted Rampart Area Community Police Station on May 23, 2002.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the children's natural mother, Ana Rosa Sanchez, left their residence, 850 North Rampart Boulevard, with her children without explanation. She is described as a female Hispanic, 34 years old, brown hair, brown eyes, 5' 6", 145 lbs. Her vehicle, a green 1996 Ford Contour, 4-door sedan, is also missing.

Abducted children are 13-year old David Sanchez and 11-year old Ana Luisa Sanchez.

Anyone with information should contact the Rampart Area Watch Commander at 213-485-4061. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk, 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).

This press release was prepared by Public Information Officer Jason Lee, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
