Firm Selected To Conduct Search For Chief Of Police

"Firm Selected To Conduct Search For Chief Of Police"

Los Angeles - The Personnel Department for the City of Los Angeles announced today that Bob Murray and Associates has been selected to conduct the search for Chief of Police. "I am confident that Murray and Associates will recruit exceptional candidates for Chief of Police with the experience and skills needed to lead and manage the LAPD," said Margaret Whelan, General Manager of the Personnel Department.

Murray and Associates was chosen because of its national network of contacts and unparalleled experience conducting successful Police Chief searches. For over seventeen years, Mr. Murray has personally conducted over sixty Police Chief searches including numerous searches in the Southern California area. This has afforded him a unique understanding of the region which is a tremendous asset when recruiting candidates for the Los Angeles Police Department. Murray and Associates is based in Sacramento, California. It is expected that the terms of the contract will be negotiated and finalized by the end of next week.

The Los Angeles Police Commission is currently conducting community meetings throughout Los Angeles to obtain the public’s ideas on criteria for the selection of a new Chief of Police. In addition, the Personnel Department is distributing approximately 20,000 surveys to Angelenos asking them for their input. Information obtained from the meetings and surveys will be used as criteria by which candidates will be evaluated.
