Hollywood Detectives Investigate a Murder

Los Angeles: On Sunday, May 26, 2002, at approximately 2:40 A.M., Hollywood Division patrol officers responded to a "Shots Fired" radio call in the area of Sunset Boulevard and Serrano Avenue. Upon arrival officers found a man down on the street; a victim of a gunshot wound. The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a male Hispanic was seen arguing with the victim moments prior to the shooting. The suspect was described as a possible gang member.

The motive for the shooting has not been determined. The suspect has not been arrested.

The victim is described as a male Black, 37 years of age. His identity is being held pending notification of next of kin.
