"Detectives Seek Help from Community to Assist in Murder Investigation"

Los Angeles: On May 28, 2002 at approximately 12:30 a.m., Rampart Patrol Officers responded to a "Shots Fired" radio call at 205 South Witmer Street. Upon arrival officers observed the victim, down on the ground, suffering from gunshot wounds to her upper torso. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The investigation revealed that several gunshots were heard. The suspect and weapon are outstanding. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time. The victim is described as a female Hispanic, 32 years of age. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin.

Homicide Detectives from Rampart Operations Support Division are conducting the investigation.
