Five Shot on City Street-One Dies

 

Los Angeles: On Friday, May 16, 2003 at approximately 5:15 p.m., a shooting occurred that resulted in five people being shot, one fatally wounded.

20 year-old Semaji Omar Cryer and three of his friends were standing on the sidewalk in front of a residence located in the 1000 block of West 66th Street. The suspects then drove up in an unknown vehicle, exited the car and approached the victims. The suspects fired several shots which hit not only the four intended victims, but also an uninvolved female who was walking nearby.

All five victims were transported to a local hospital where Cryer succumbed to his injuries. The other victims were listed in stable condition.
