Officer Involved Shooting with Armed Man

Los Angeles: Southwest Area Narcotics detectives were serving a narcotics search warrant when they were involved in a shooting with an armed man.

On May 11, 2005, at about 7:15 PM, the detectives arrived at 3791 South Cimarron Street. Upon their approach to the house, several suspects fled the rear of the location. Police Officers Christopher Wren, 31 years of age and 9 years and 7 months on the Department, and James Diamond, 36 years of age and 9 years and 4 months on the Department, assigned to Southwest Gang Enforcement Detail were assigned rear containment of the location. The suspect turned and pointed a blue steel .380 cal Beretta semi-auto pistol at the officers as he fled through the backyard. Both officers fired at the suspect and he collapsed at the scene.

The suspect was transported by Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics to California Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:00 PM. A loaded .380 caliber semi-auto Beretta was recovered at scene.

The suspect has been identified as 26 year-old Brayland Randolph of Los Angeles.

Force Investigation Division detectives are handling the investigation.
