LAPD Traffic Checkpoint

What: LAPD Sobriety Checkpoint

When: Saturday, May 26, 2007
6:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m.

Where: Crenshaw Boulevard between Slauson Avenue and 29th Street

Who: The Crime Task Force–Motor Strike Team
South Traffic Officers

Why: This operation will be conducted in an effort to reduce the property damage, injury, and death attributed to drunk drivers. Impaired drivers are responsible for taking a life every 30 minutes, amounting to 50 people a day and nearly 18,000 citizens annually nationwide.

The checkpoint will serve to remind the community of the dangers of drinking and driving and the importance of using designated drivers.
