Toddler Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver NR10258ne

Los Angeles:   The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is requesting the public’s help to identify and locate a suspect responsible for a hit-and-run traffic accident that seriously injured a 2-year-old boy.

On May 14, 2010, at around 10 p.m., a family was attending a church service at the 6100 block of South Figueroa Street.  At the conclusion of the church service, the family’s 2-year-old child ran into the street.  The child was then struck by a motorist driving an older model blue, Toyota  Corolla that was traveling southbound on Figueroa Street toward 62nd Street.  The driver of the Toyota continued southbound on Figueroa, then eastbound on 62nd Street.  The driver failed to stop and render aid or identify himself as required by law.  The driver is described as a male Hispanic.

The toddler was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact South Traffic Detectives at 323-290-6064.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).  Tipsters may also contact Crimestoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.
