LAPD Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce Arrest Suspect for Distribution of Child Pornography NR13137df Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Juvenile Division’s Los Angeles Internet Crimes Against Children (LA ICAC) Taskforce has captured a suspect wanted for distributing child pornography. LA ICAC had received a cyber-tip about the suspect, 34-year-old Alvaro Rosas of Los Angeles, being involved with child pornography. Yesterday, during a proactive police investigation involving the distribution of child pornography Rosas was discovered trading large amounts of child pornography on the Internet. The LA ICAC Taskforce served a search warrant at Rosas’ residence and located digital evidence containing hundreds of files of child sexual exploitation. Investigators were able to confirm dozens of the videos and photos as child porn. The LA ICAC Taskforce is spearheaded by the LAPD with 53 federal and local affiliate agencies that detect and investigate child predators that use the internet as a means to contact children or deal in child pornography. The public is reminded that any suspected inappropriate contact with a minor or knowledge of child pornography on the Internet should be immediately reported to local law enforcement agencies or to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at (800) 843-5678. Reports can also go to www.missingkids.com, and the information will be forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement agency on a nationwide basis. June is Internet Safety Month and parents are encouraged to discuss Internet safety tips with their children.
