Armed and Barricaded Suspect Refuses to Surrender NR13156df

Los Angeles:  LAPD Hollywood Area officers responded to a radio call of a man causing a disturbance and threatening residents with a machete.

On May 7, 2013, around 10 p.m., officers were called to a residence in the 1700 block of North Fuller Avenue where they discovered a man holding a machete threatening to kill several people in an apartment building.  When officers arrived the suspect barricaded himself inside his fifth-floor apartment.

After several unheeded requests by the officers asking the suspect, 28-year-old Oliviero Bozzi, to surrender peacefully, the LAPD SWAT Team was summoned, and several apartments near Bozzi’s unit were evacuated.

SWAT officers served a search warrant at that location and Bozzi was finally taken into custody.  A search of his apartment resulted in the discovery of several weapons, and he was booked for criminal threats.

Anyone with information is asked to call LAPD Hollywood detectives at (213) 972-2967. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247).  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).  Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.” Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
