Man Dies from Hit & Run Collision NR13171rh

Los Angeles:   The Los Angeles Police Department, South Traffic Detectives are asking for the public’s help to locate and identify the driver of a black sedan who struck and killed a 53-year-old man, a Los Angeles resident, who was crossing the street.

On Saturday, May 25, 2013, around 2:40 a.m., the victim was crossing Western Avenue near 82nd  Street when he was struck by a driver in a black sedan travelling south on Western Avenue.  The driver continued south on Western Avenue.

The driver failed to stop or identify himself or render aid to the victim as required by law. Witnesses were unable to obtain a license plate number of the vehicle.

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded to the location and pronounced the victim dead at scene.  The name of the victim is being withheld until next of kin has been notified.

There is no suspect description.  The driver and vehicle are still outstanding.

The vehicle is described as a black sedan with possible tinted windows.
