Drive By Shooting Investigation

 

Panorama City: On April 12, 2001, at 10:25 p.m., a citizen heard gun shots and a racing engine of a motor vehicle in the 8500 block of Tobias Avenue. Officers and paramedics responded to the location and observed a 1990 Acura, which had collided with a stop sign. Paramedic personnel observed an unconscious and seriously wounded male Hispanic victim seated in the driver’s seat. The victim had incurred several apparent gunshot wounds in the upper body. He was transported to Holy Cross Hospital but pronounced dead at 3:50 a.m. on April 13, 2001.

The victim has been identified as Luis Andres Esqueda, a 19 year-old resident of Sylmar. The identity of possible suspects and the motive for the shooting are unknown at this time.
