Los Angeles: Detectives are asking the public's help in identifying two suspects who were caught on video surveillance robbing a check cashing store.
On May 26, 2007, at approximately 10:15 a.m., two suspects entered the Short Stop at the corner of Nordhoff Street and Sepulveda Boulevard. One of the suspects went to the enclosed check cashing booth and kicked the door several times in an attempt to open it. He then pulled out a large semi-automatic handgun, pointed it at the cashier, and demanded that she open the door. When the cashier did not comply, the suspect walked to another cashier, grabbed her and pointed the handgun to her head, telling the cashier in the booth that he would kill the hostage if she did not open the door.
The cashier opened the door, allowed the suspect in and gave him $6,600 in cash in a black plastic bag. The suspects ran out of the store and fled in a small red car. The suspects are described as one black and one Hispanic man in their early twenties. They are about 5’9” and 6’0” feet tall and weigh about 170 pounds.
"The quality of the photographic images showing the suspect is good. It is our hope that someone might be able to provide information to detectives which would identify the suspects," said Sergeant Lee Sands, LAPD Media Relations.
