Argument Leads to Murder of a Sylmar Resident NR18037tk

Sylmar: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in providing information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect responsible for the murder of a 17-year-old teenager.

On February 1, 2018, around 7:50 a.m., LAPD Mission Area officers responded to a shots fired/man down radio call at the 13900 block of Maclay Avenue in Sylmar. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim down at scene suffering from a gunshot wound. The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, a 17-year-old Sylmar resident, had an argument with the occupants of a white SUV. The victim attempted to open the passenger door of the SUV when the driver produced a handgun and fired a single shot at the victim.

The suspect fled the scene in the SUV westbound on Maclay Avenue from Bromont Street.

The victim’s name has not been released pending notification to next of kin.
