Two $50,000 Rewards

WHAT: News Conference to announce two separate $50,000 rewards offered by the Los Angeles City Council for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects responsible for the murders of Pedro Hernandez and Gregory Baltazar.

WHO: Councilmember Monica Rodriguez, Council District 7 Captain III Natalie Cortez, Commanding Officer Mission Area Captain I Peter Casey, Mission Area Lieutenant Michel Kozak, Commanding Officer Valley Bureau Homicide Detective Richard Moakley, Valley Bureau Homicide Detective Eloy Navarro, Valley Bureau Homicide

WHY: On Sunday, September 02, 2018, around 1:00 a.m., Pedro Hernandez was attending a house party at the 14500 block of Tyler Street in Sylmar. A fight broke out and Hernandez attempted to intervene. Hernandez was shot, and died a short time later at a nearby hospital.

In a separate and unrelated case:

On January 11, 2018 around 9:00 p.m., Gregory Baltazar was at his home at the 13600 block of Simshaw Avenue in Sylmar. Gregory answered a knock on the door and was almost immediately shot. The suspects fled, and Baltazar died at the scene.
