Illegal Street Racer Wanted

$25, 000 Reward Offered for Illegal Street Racer

Why:
On May 16, 2006, at about 8:35 P.M., Jonathan McGinnis, a resident of Van Nuys, was driving a red 1994 Honda Del Sol westbound on the 24000 block of Vanowen Street. Mr. McGinnis was engaged in an illegal street race at the time with another car when he lost control and crashed with a parked motor home and a vehicle traveling eastbound Vanowen Street. Mr. McGinnis died at the scene.

The LAPD is asking the public's help in locating witnesses to the illegal street race and the driver of the other car.

Councilmember Dennis Zine, through the City Council, has offered a $25,000 reward for the identification, arrest and conviction of the driver.

Family members of McGinnis will be present with family photos.
