Proposed Increase Housing Opportunities for LAPD Officers What: Los Angeles City Council-members Dennis Zine and Jack Weiss will announce a proposal to explorer public-private partnership that could improve the availability of housing for police officers in the city of Los Angeles. When: Friday, August 11, 2006 2:00 PM Where: City Hall Spring Street Steps 200 N. Spring Street Who: Deputy Mayor Bud Ovrom Council-member Dennis Zine Council-member Jack Weiss Police Commissioner Anthony Pacheco Police Chief William J. Bratton Affordable Housing Commissioners Why: Because of rising cost of housing in Los Angeles, Council members have introduced a motion for affordable housing for LAPD candidates. This motion would allow the public and private sector to enter a partnership and utilize the surplus properties in the city and develop affordable housing for active and recruit police officers.
