Surveillance Cameras Unveiled in Watts What: News Conference to announce operation of seven surveillance cameras in Jordan Downs Housing Development When: March 16, 2007 1:30 PM Where: Jordan Downs Housing Development in front of community room 2101 E 101st Street LA, CA 90061 Who: Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa Police Chief William Bratton Council member Janice Hahn Council member Eric Garcetti Richard Neal, VP Motorola George S. Cardona, US Attorney's Office Why: Unveil new cameras purchased under a grant from the Department of Justice and partially paid for by the Motorola Corporation. First of 20 cameras to be installed in Jordan Downs and monitored at Southeast Police Station. Event will include a demonstration of how the cameras downlink to police cars in real time. Media will also be invited to tape the command center at Southeast Police Station after the event ends.
