77th Division Truancy Task Force What: Truancy Task Force When: October 4, 2007 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Where: Command Post #1 •Media Access Area: Mount Carmel Park located at 830 West 70th Street Command Post #2 •Media Access Area: Normandale Park located at 22400 Halldale Avenue Who: Los Angeles Police Department Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department Long Beach Police Department Los Angeles School Police Department Torrance Police Department Gardena Police Department Compton School Police Department Why: The purpose of the task force is to identify and cite minors who are truant from school. There were 540 juvenile arrests during school hours from June 1, 2007 through September 7, 2007, in 77th Area. There has been an increase of juveniles becoming both victims and suspects of crimes. Additional: Media personnel will be given access to both the briefing and command post locations. Media will be allowed to accompany officers to locations and film field operations. There will be one officer at each command post location who will be the media contact. Those planning on attending the briefings should arrive no later than 7:25 A.M..
