Family Dispute Results in a Critical Injury to Father NR09509gb

Los Angeles:  A 65-year-old Van Nuys man has been listed in critical condition after suffering major injuries in an apparent family dispute Tuesday evening.

October 21, 2009, at about 6:30 p.m., the victim and his wife were confronted by their son, 32-year-old, Kenneth Park, on the third floor of a parking structure in the 5000 block of Van Nuys Boulevard.  When Park was trying to leave the scene in his mini-SUV, the victim jumped on to the hood.   Park continued to drive through the parking structure, swerving and accelerating, until his father was thrown from the vehicle.  The victim suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Park left the location but returned a short time later after being contacted by responding officers.   Park was booked for an Assault with A Deadly Weapon and is being held on $30,000 bail.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Van Nuys Division Detectives at 818-374-0040.  During off-hours, calls may be directed to a 24-hour, toll-free number at1-877-LAPD-24-7 (527-3247).  Callers may also text “Crimes” with a cell phone or log on to www.lapdonline.org and click on Web tips.  When using a cell phone, all messages should begin with “LAPD.”  Tipsters may remain anonymous.
