Increased DUI Enforcement on Super Bowl Sunday Weekend
Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) will increase enforcement activities related to those who may be driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol on the days leading up to this coming weekend’s Super Bowl Sunday. Starting tomorrow evening, the LAPD will conduct sobriety checkpoints that will continue through Saturday night and culminate with a DUI saturation patrol on Sunday.
The LAPD encourages everyone to support their favorite team and enjoy the company of friends and family, but to always drink responsibility and use a designated driver. The Department also wants to remind drivers stopped for being drunk behind the wheel of the consequences: heavy fines and jail time.
Funding for this checkpoint is provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. Anyone who observes a drunk driver can help make our streets safer by calling 911.
More information is available by contacting Officer Don Inman of LAPD’s Traffic Coordination Section at 213-486-0703.
