Los Angeles: A Los Angeles Police Department squad car was involved in a fatal crash that killed a 27-year-old woman last night in Sylmar.
The accident occurred around 8:10 p.m., when a blue 4-door Toyota Corolla, driven by Jovanna Janet Lugo, was in the process of making a U-turn, mid block on Glenoaks Boulevard, just south of Dyer Street. Investigators say the police cruiser was traveling north on Glenoaks Boulevard when it collided with the car making the U-turn. Paramedics pronounced the occupant of the Corolla dead at the scene. Two police officers in the squad car suffered moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
