Detectives Seek Information on Cargo Theft Suspect NR13236cj

Los Angeles:  Los Angeles Police Department’s Commercial Crimes Detectives are asking for the publics’ assistance in obtaining information related to an individual who was arrested for cargo theft in Los Angeles.  Jiles Byron Gray was arrested in Los Angeles after he was seen driving a semi-truck pulling a stolen trailer.  The trailer was reported stolen out of the city of Ontario and it contained “Charlotte Russe” brand women’s clothing valued at approximately $750,000.00.

Gray is currently on federal probation for hijacking and is suspected of belonging to an organized ring of cargo theft suspects.

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department, Commercial Crimes Division, Cargo-Hijack Unit, are conducting an investigation into this crime.  They are requesting the assistance of community members to identify additional crimes Gray may have been involved in and associates involved with Gray in these crimes.

Anyone with information regarding a cargo theft case is asked to call Commercial Crimes Division, Cargo-Hijack Unit, Detective Zavala or Woods at 818-832-7510 or 818-832-7508.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls may be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).  Tipsters may also contact Crimestoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) using a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.”  Tipsters can also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
