Suspect Injured During Arrest NR13384nv

Los Angeles:  On Thursday, August 8, 2013, around 1:25 a.m., Hollywood Division Patrol officers saw the driver of a silver BMW commit traffic violations in the area of Gower Street and Fountain Avenue.  The driver later identified as 26-year-old Aram Tagmazyan, drove to an apartment complex located in the 1200 block North Beachwood Drive and entered the subterranean garage. The officers followed the driver into the garage and saw him park his car, and run into an apartment while holding his waistband. Officers saw the lights in the apartment go off and heard flushing of a toilet. The officers broadcasted their location and requested a backup.

Numerous officers responded to the area and surrounded the apartment building. Officers organized an arrest team and ordered Tagmazyan out. After a couple minutes Tagmazyan walked out of the apartment and was taken into custody and handcuffed. While being handcuffed, Tagmazyan’s right elbow was injured.

Los Angeles Fire Department rescue ambulance transported Tagmazyan to a local hospital where he was treated and released for booking. Tagmazyan was booked for resisting arrest into Metropolitan Detention Center, and later transported to Los Angeles County Sheriff Jail Ward for additional medical treatment.

Force Investigation Division personnel will conduct a thorough investigation of the incident as a Law Enforcement Related Injury (LERI).

The investigation will ultimately be reviewed by the Chief of Police, the office of the Inspection General and Board of Police Commissioners for compliance with the Department’s policy. Additionally, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Justice System Integrity Division will conduct a comprehensive review of the facts of the incident.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call Force Investigation Division at (213) 486-5230.
