Hit and Run Fatal Traffic Collision NR16236mlPanorama City: A Fatal Hit and Run Collision on Sepulveda Boulevard and Parthenia Street
On Saturday, July 30, 2016, at around 12:30 a.m. LAPD Valley Traffic Officers responded to a ambulance traffic collision in Panorama City. Upon arrival they observed the aftermath of a vehicle versus Pedestrian traffic collision.
A Toyota Prius Sedan, traveling in northbound on Sepulveda Boulevard collided with a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian died at scene from the injuries sustained.
The pedestrian has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of Toyota Prius fled the scene. Shortly after San Fernando Police Department Officers observed the Prius driving recklessly and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. The California Highway Patrol Officers and Los Angeles Police Department Officers assisted with the pursuit of the Prius.
The Los Angeles Police Officers deployed a spike strip which assisted in ending the vehicle pursuit. The pursuit ended when the Prius collided with a steel parking pillar in a private parking lot adjacent to Pacific Coast Highway and Porto Marina Way in the community of Pacific Palisades.
The driver of the Toyota Prius was identified as male, white, 54 year-old, Mark Christian Johnson.
Johnson was arrested for felony evading at the conclusion of the pursuit.
