The City of Los Angeles has also dedicated itself to explore and utilize alternative uses of fuel. Under the direction of LAPD Chief Charlie Beck, the Los Angeles Police Department is actively investing in the future of transportation.

The patrol vehicle is a police officer's office and the LAPD expects that policing tool to not only be economically and environmentally efficient, but also an effective tool for fighting crime in a major metropolitan area."
