Synthia L. Lee
Captain II Synthia L. Lee
is a lifelong resident of Los Angeles, California; who grew up in
Los Angeles and graduated from George Washington Preparatory High
Captain Lee joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1988, and
worked a variety of patrol, investigative and specialized
assignments. She worked Harbor Patrol Division, Pacific Patrol
Division and South Bureau Narcotics. In 1995, she was upgraded to a
Police Officer III and assigned to the Evaluation Administration
Section, Office of Operations.
In 1996, Lee was promoted to the rank of Sergeant I and assigned to
Hollywood Patrol Division and Northeast Patrol Division,
respectively. Lee converted to Detective I in 1998 and was assigned
to Pacific Area Detectives. In 1999, she was upgraded to Detective
II and assigned to Internal Affairs Group where she worked West
Section, the Family Violence Unit and Review and Evaluation
Section. While assigned to Internal Affairs Group, she was upgraded
to Sergeant II.
In 2001, Lee transferred to the newly created Audit Division. In
2003, she was chosen as the Aide in the Office of the Inspector
General. In 2006, Lee accepted a position as the Commanders Aide,
Internal Affairs Group. As a result of the Commanders transfer, she
became the Commanders Aide in Operations-West Bureau.
In 2007, Lee was promoted to Lieutenant I and assigned to Wilshire
Patrol Division as a Watch Commander. She was upgraded to
Lieutenant II in 2008 and assigned as the Vice Coordinator,
Operations-Central Bureau. Lee transferred to Pacific - LAX in
2011, where she was assigned as the Assistant Commanding Officer,
LAX Field Services Division.
In 2014, Lee was promoted to Captain I and assigned as the
Commanding Officer, North Hollywood Patrol Division.
During her tenure with the Department, Captain Lee earned a
Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from
University of Phoenix and a Masters of Public Administration Degree
from California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH).
Additionally, she is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of
Investigation National Academy (FBI NA), Session 248; the Sherman
Block Leadership Institute; and the Enhanced Incident Management
Unified Command Course, Texas A&M Engineering Extension
Captain Lee is family oriented and active in her church and
community. She is also actively involved in the Phi Alpha Alpha
Honor Society (CSUDH); the Oscar Joel Bryant Foundation; the Los
Angeles Women Police Officers and Associates; the National
Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives; and the
Association of Black Law Enforcement Executives.
