Homicide Victim Discovered Dead by Cleaning Lady

On Thursday, September 2, 1999, at 11:55 AM, North Hollywood patrol officers responded to a death investigation call in the 4200 block of Arch Drive in Studio City.

Upon arrival, officers were met by a cleaning lady who had discovered the deceased inside of the apartment she routinely cleans on Thursdays. Rescue personnel pronounced death and homicide detectives responded. Subsequent investigation revealed the deceased, 41 year old, Mitchell Stanman, who lived by himself at the location, had been stabbed and killed by unknown suspect(s) who then ransacked the apartment.

Detectives also discovered the victim’s vehicle was missing. It is described as a 1999 Porsche Boxer sports car, silver in color with a black convertible top. It has a California license plate of 4FDP492. North Hollywood Homicide Detectives learned that Mr. Stanman’s stolen 1999 Porsche was parked in the area of Westmoreland and Melrose Avenues. The detectives also learned that a possible suspect for the theft of the Porsche and the murder of Mr. Stanman was at the same location.

Early morning of September 3, 1999, Detectives and officers from the North Hollywood and Rampart Divisions of the LAPD, located and recovered Mr. Stanman’s Porsche and a short time later arrested 33 year old Marcus Sartin for the murder of Mr. Stanman.
