Detectives Seek Help in Identifying Additional Suspects

Los Angeles:  Los Angeles police have arrested 30-year-old Marlo Jones for a January 5th robbery that occurred at a Universal City hotel.

On Jan 10, at around 8:50 a.m., LAPD officers stopped a vehicle which was known to have been used in the January 5th robbery.  The driver, Marlo Jones was arrested for robbery.  Jones is being held in lieu of $1,160,396.00 bail at Parker Center Jail.

On January 5, 2009, North Hollywood patrol officers were called to the 500 block of Universal Hollywood Drive to investigate a robbery.  Officers believe that the victim had just returned to his hotel room when he was confronted by a group of suspects, including two females.  The male suspects beat and choked the victim.  The suspects removed the jewelry that the victim was wearing and then stormed his room.  The suspects took additional jewelry and left the hotel.

Marlo “Bow Wow” Jones is currently a contract employee with Unity One, a subcontractor under the City’s LA Bridges II Gang Intervention program.  Consistent with Unity One policy, upon learning of his arrest, Jones was immediately terminated from his position.

Detectives are urging witnesses or anyone with additional information, about the other suspects or the location of the stolen property to come forward.

Anyone with information concerning this robbery is asked to call North Hollywood robbery detectives at 818-623-4061. After-hours or on weekends, calls may be directed to a 24-hour, toll-free number at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (527-3247).  Callers may also text “CRIMES” with a cell phone or log on to www.lapdonline.org and click on Web Tips.  When using a cell phone, all messages should begin with “LAPD.”  All calls and contacts are anonymous.
