Man Shot and Left for Dead NR18320dm

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the identification of the suspects responsible for killing 42-year-old Sun Valley resident Sergio Mares.

On December 17, 2018, around 5:58 p.m., North Hollywood Area patrol officers responded to a shooting call on Archwood Street and Laurel grove Avenue, at the Valley Plaza Recreational Center. Upon arrival, officers observed a male, in the parking lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim had been working on his vehicle when he was approached by two male suspects and shot. The suspects fled north, in a vehicle, on Vanowen Street.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported Mares to a local hospital. He died upon arrival.

The motive for this shooting is unknown. There is no vehicle or suspect description.
