Los Angeles: Northeast Area Community Police Station will host its annual Open House on Saturday, October 20, 2001, between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. in the station parking lot at 3353 San Fernando Road. This year's theme is "Crime Prevention" and will include a crime prevention fair.

Northeast area consists of 22 diverse communities with approximately 250,000 residents. This event will showcase the LAPD with displays from SWAT, DARE, Narcotics, Air Support, Mounted Unit, K-9 Unit and much more. Chief Bernard C. Parks will be present as well as the Senior Lead Officers who are assigned to the various areas in the community. Security professionals will be present to provide crime prevention tips. He pitched during the 1981 Championship season. A barbecue fundraiser will be provided by our local area business police support group, BLEND (Business for Law Enforcement in Northeast Division), and the Community Police Advisory Board (C-PAB). They will be offering Carne Asada tacos, rice, bean, tortillas, salsa, drinks, popcorn, nachos and snow cones for a nominal amount throughout the day.

This event is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate participation in local anti-crime efforts and to strengthen neighborhood-police community partnerships.
