Police Seek Driver Involved in Fatal Hit and Run Accident

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating the driver and the vehicle involved in a hit and run accident that killed Rodolfo Veleasco.

On Friday, August 25, 2006, around 9:27 p.m., Rodolfo Velasco, a 32 year-old resident of Los Angeles, was running southbound across Santa Monica Boulevard near Westmoreland Avenue, when he was struck by a champagne colored Honda Accord that was traveling eastbound on Santa Monica Boulevard. The driver of this vehicle fled the scene without stopping to identify him or herself, or render aid. Mr. Velasco died at the scene as a result of the injuries.

The hit and run vehicle sustained damage to the left front headlight assembly along with the driver's side view mirror.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Central Traffic Detective M. Kaden or Officer I. Rojas at 213-972-1825, or the Central Traffic Watch Commander at 213-972-1853. On weekends or during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll Detective Hotline at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
