LAPD is Looking for Answers in a Silver Lake Homicide NR11377cj

Los Angeles: Today Council Member LaBonge and the LAPD held a press conference to announce the arrest of a suspect involved in the murder of a Silver Lake pizza delivery man.

On August 26, 2011, Detective Carrillo identified the suspect in this shooting as 18-year-old Jose Beltran, a male Hispanic.  Beltran had been arrested on August 19, 2011, for an unrelated gun charge in LAPD’s Rampart area.  Beltran remains in the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriffs.  On August 29, 2011, Detective Carrillo presented this case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, who after careful review filed one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder on Beltran.

Despite the fact that Beltran has been identified, anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Detectives J. Carrillo or L. Los Angeles:
  LAPD Northeast Area detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing information about the murder of a man in the Silver Lake community of Los Angeles.

On August 7, 2011, at around 5:08 a.m., LAPD Northeast Area patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the intersection of Silver Lake Boulevard and Scott Place. When the officers arrived they found a man seated in a car suffering from a gunshot wound to his head.  Paramedics from the Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the man to the University of Southern California Medical Center where the victim, identified as 20-year-old Juan David Vasquez Loma, was declared brain dead and placed on life support.  On August 14, 2011, Loma succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The motive and the description of the suspect(s) are unknown.
