Man Murdered While Waiting at a Bus Stop NR12019lpLos Angeles: A 25-year-old man was shot and killed while waiting for a bus with his girlfriend in the East Hollywood area of Los Angeles.
On January 12, 2012 at 1:15 a.m., LAPD Northeast Area officers responded to a shooting call at a bus stop near the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Edgemont Street. When the officers arrived, they were met by a female who told them that she and her boyfriend, later identified as 25-year-old Cesar Gonzalez, a resident of Los Angeles, were waiting at the bus stop when two suspects approached them.
One of the suspects pushed her to the ground, while the other suspect engaged in conversation with Gonzalez. The suspect who was talking with Gonzalez suddenly pulled out a small handgun and started shooting, striking Gonzalez in the chest. Both suspects ran from the scene in an unknown direction. The suspects are described only as a male Hispanic and a male Asian in their 20’s.
Los Angeles City Fire Department Rescue Ambulance responded to the scene and transported Gonzalez to a local hospital where he died a short time later. Detectives believe the motive for this crime is gang related.
