Young Man Shot to Death in the Highland Park Community NR13049cj

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Northeast Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a 16-year-old Hispanic male.

On Saturday, February 16, 2013, around 8:45 p.m., uniformed officers assigned to the LAPD’s Northeast Gang Enforcement Detail were patrolling in the area of North Avenue 52 and Figueroa Street, when they heard multiple gun shots.  Officers responded to North Avenue 51 and Figueroa Street then traveled westbound towards Monte Vista.  Officers discovered an unresponsive male on the ground in the 100 block of North Avenue 51. Los Angeles City Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location and pronounced the victim at scene.

Detectives’ investigation revealed that two suspects, described only as male Hispanics, approached the victim and shot him.  The suspects fled the scene and entered a dark colored mid-sized car. The motive for this homicide appears to be gang related.
